Here we dont get minced mutton in small quantities. We have to buy minimum of 1 kg & I divide them into 4 quarters & prepare different dishes whole week. Keema vadai is my DH favourite & I like to serve it as starter/ snack / side dish. Best way is to serve it with tomato ketchup. Rich & heavy would be perfect for kids.
Ingredients :
- Minced meat (mutton or beaf) - 500 gms
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Green chillies - 2 nos
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Onion - 1 medium sized
- Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder - 1 tsp (optional)
- Gram flour (or split roasted gram dal) - 1/4 cup
- Corriander leaves - 1 tbsp
- Egg - 1 no
- Oil for frying
Method :
1. Heat 1 tsp of oil in the frying pan, add finely chopped onions, green chillies, ginger garlic paste & turmeric powder. Saute till tender.
2. Add the minced meat, chilly powder & salt to taste. Cook till done.
3. Finally, add the garam masala & finely chopped corriander leaves. Switch off the flame.
4. Transfer the cooked meat in a bowl & add gram flour and egg. Mix well.
5. Meanwhile heat oil in the deep frying pan. Take a dollop of vadai mixture & make a round shape & drop them in the oil. Deep fry them on medium flame till golden brown on either side.
Serve warm.
