Simple n Quick Chickpea Sundal !!


Make this simple & delicious sundal using dried chick peas or canned one.

Ingredients :

  1. Dried Chick pea - 1 cup
  2. Oil - 1 tsp
  3. Ghee - 1/2 tsp
  4. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  5. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  6. Red chillies - 2 no
  7. A pinch of hing
  8. Curry leaves 
  9. Onion, finely chopped - 1 large sized
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Grated coconut / Desiccated coconut - 1 tbsp

Method :

1.  Soak the chick pea in the water - preferably overnight.

2.  Pressure cook the chick pea with salt & turmeric powder.

3.  Heat oil & ghee in the pan, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chillies, hing, curry leaves and chopped onion.  Saute till tender.

4.  Add cooked chick peas and salt to taste.

5.  Finally, add desiccated coconut.

Pidi Kozhukattai !!


Steam cooked sweet kozhukattai made with rice flour, jaggery and cardamom as main ingredients. It is simple to make and quite healthy too. It can be made as a evening snack and also it is one of the dish (prasatham) we make for vinayagar chaturthi.


Ingredients :

  1. Raw rice - 1 cup
  2. Water - 2 cups
  3. Jaggery powder - 1 cup (to taste)
  4. Coconut powder - 1 tbsp, optional
  5. Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  6. A pinch of salt
  7. Chopped cashew nuts - 1 tbsp
  8. Oil - 1 tsp

Method :


1.  Soak the rice for at least one hour.  Grind them to smooth paste using 1 cup of water.

2.  Mix together jaggery powder and another cup of water.  Warm till dissolved.

3.  Filter the dissolved jaggery water and pour the water back in the pan.

4.  Add grounded rice paste and keep stirring.


5.  Add coconut powder, cardamom powder, pinch of salt , oil & chopped nuts. Keep stirring, until the batter leaves the pan.

6.  Transfer the batter to a separate dish and allow them to cool down little bit.

7.  Wet the hands and take a dollop of batter and shape them like kozhukattai.

8.  Stream cook them for 10 mins or until done.

Javvarisi payasam recipe | Sago Kheer | Sabudana Payasam - Delicious & Creamy !!


Javvarisi payasam is my special and easy kheer preparation, which I make very often during the festival season.  Instead of sugar, we can use Jaggery powder for healthier version.  I used a tbsp of condensed milk for richness, which is optional.  Try this quick naivedyam, as a offerings for the pooja.


Ingredients :

  1. Sago | Sabudana - 1/4 cup
  2. Water - 1 cup
  3. Full cream milk - 2 cups
  4. Sugar - 1/4 cup
  5. Sweetened condensed milk - 1 tbsp
  6. Ghee - 1 tsp
  7. Nuts - 2 tbsp (Cashewnuts, almonds, raisins)
  8. Few strands of saffron
  9. Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp 

Method :


1.  Soak the sago for at least one hour.

2.  Pour a cup of water in a pan and add sago.  Cook for 10 mins over medium flame.

3.  Add 2 cups of full cream milk and cook for 5 more mins.

4.  Add sweetened condensed milk, saffron strands and stir.

5.  Add ghee in a separate pan, roast the nuts.  Add the roasted nuts to the kheer. 

6.  Finally, add cardamom powder and switch off the flame.


Enjoy the deliciousness either warm or cold.

Paneer Bhurji

Paneer Bhurji is a popular north indian dish made from scrambled paneer.Its a very quick recipe which does not take much time to prepare.It can be relish with bread, pav, rotis, naan orparantha,It is loved by all people of all ages.


Ingredients :
  1. Oil - 1 tbsp
  2. Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  3. Onion, finely chopped - 2 medium sized
  4. Tomatoes, chopped - 2 medium sized
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  6. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  7. Chilly powder - 1 tsp
  8. Green chillies, slit - 2 nos
  9. Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  10. Paneer, scrambled - 200 gms
  11. Dry fenugreek leaves - 1 tbsp
  12. Coriander leaves, for garnishing

Method :


1.  Heat oil in the pan, add cumin seeds and finely chopped onions.  Saute till tender.

2.  Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, green chillies and salt to taste.  Saute.

3.  Add finely chopped tomatoes and chilly powder.  Cover and cook for 10 mins over low flame.


4.  Add garam masala, dry fenugreek leaves and crumbled paneer.  Cover and cook for few more mins.

5.  Garnish it with coriander leaves.  


Enjoy it with roots/naan.
