Simple authentic paruppu thogayal is prepared with toor dal, which goes well with white rice / rasam / curd rice.
Ingredients :
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Toor dal - 100 gms
- Red chilly - 4 nos
- Salt to taste
- Tamarind - a small piece
- Pepper corns - 1/2 tsp
- A pinch of hing
Method :
1. Heat oil in the pan, add red chillies and a pinch of hing.
2. Add black pepper corns, tamarind and toor dal. Over the low heat, roast them until the toor dal changes colour to golden brown. Allow the mixture to cool completely.
3. Using little water, grind the mixture to desired consistency.
Serve with warm rice.
